West Dunbartonshire is a short distance of some of the most scenically beautiful and accessible countryside in the world. With the timeless beauty of Loch Lomond and its surroundings there are literally hundreds of opportunities to get out and enjoy the fresh air. Walkabout WD has been created to encourage everyone to explore our unique area and the reap the rewards of walking, starting with one simple action, getting out the front door for a short 20 min walk.

There are many benefits to walking including:-

  • Helping to reduce obesity – our number one killer condition in the West of Scotland
  • Strengthens our body
  • Improves mood and psychological outlook
  • Reduces stress levels
  • A social activity with friends and family
  • Inexpensive activity, all that’s required is a jacket and a decent pair of walking shoes

Everyone has felt the benefits of a stroll with a friend, a summer walk in the evening, a morning walk with the dog or a day's walking in the hills, it’ s not about the distance or the intensity just the simple act of regularly putting one foot in front of the other.
