Net Zero Heros

Our climate is changing, this can be seen by our weather patterns, Scotland's 10 warmest years have occurred since 1997 with rainfall increasing 9% from 1961-1990 to 2010-2019 with sea levels rising 1.4 mm per year from the start if the 20th century. On the back of this the Scottish Government declared a climate emergency in 2019, recognising the transformational change required across society to reduce the risk to society. Everyone has a role to play!

Part of this transformation is a path to Net Zero which is the balance between emissions produced and emissions taken out of the atmosphere. From all the emissions produced there must be mitigating actions in place to remove the same level of emissions from the atmosphere.

What can we do to help the planet?

  • Walk more and increase our use of public transport to reduce pollution
  • Plant trees
  • Increase recycling
  • Reduce food waste which contributes to 10% of greenhouse gasses
  • Reduce energy consumption
  • Reduce water usage
  • Use locally grown food

Why not become a Net Zero Hero in West Dunbartonshire and beyond to spread the word about climate change and help other do the same?
