Net Zero Heroes
Our climate is changing, and this can be seen by weather patterns. Did you know that Scotland's 10 warmest years have occurred since 1997 with rainfall increasing 9% from 1961-1990 to 2010-2019 with sea levels rising 1.4 mm per year from the start of the 20th Century. The Scottish Government declared a climate emergency in 2019, recognising the transformational change required across society to reduce the risk to society and everyone has a role to play!
Part of this transformation is a path to Net Zero which is the balance between emissions produced and emissions removed from the atmosphere. From all the emissions produced there must be mitigating actions in place to remove equal level of emissions from the atmosphere.
How can we help the planet?
- Walk more and increase our use of public transport to reduce pollution
- Plant trees
- Increase recycling
- Reduce food waste which contributes to 10% of greenhouse gasses
- Reduce energy consumption
- Reduce water usage
- Use locally grown food
Why not become a West Dunbartonshire Net Zero Hero and spread the word about climate change and help others do the same?
