Rope Sculpture - Livingston Street - Kirkwood footbridge – canal – Argyll Rd – Livingstone St
The rope sculpture signifies Clydebank’s connection with shipbuilding.
The first spadeful in building the Forth and Clyde Canal was dug in 1768 to connect the central belt of east and west Scotland. It was officially opened in 1791 and there are 39 locks in total.
The canal is a habitat for many species of birdlife including ducks, swans, moor hen and coots. Coarse fish such as pike, perch and roach inhabit the canal.
