An Internationally important site of scientific interest for its unique permineralized fossil flora situated North-East of Bowling within Kilpatrick braes.

Glenarbuck SSSI, which is notified for its geological interest as the site supports a unique Lower Carboniferous fossil flora from approximately 345 - 325 million years ago.

The general scarcity of permineralised floras of this age in the world makes this a site of outstanding importance.

Small wood land offering walking baths with a few old oaks, ash and birch trees and Grasslands offering walks with varied species of plant and Wildlife

Start and Finish Points

By foot from Kilpatrick train station, at the end of the platform turn right into Station Road and follow under the A82. Follow the road while it bends to the left and take the first right road to Loch Humphrey and follow this road till the turn off to Gavinburn Cottages on the left. Take this turn and follow past the cottages and you will see the woods straight ahead. By vehicle from Dumbarton Road (A814) turn into Station Road at Old Kilpatrick and follow the road under the A82 until you see the car park. Once parked follow the by foot directions.
