Cochno Hill | Scientific Interest

District: Vale of Leven | Postcode: G81 6PU | Walk Type: Big Adventure

A 656Ha Area Located over the southern slopes of Kilpatrick Hills.

Brilliant views of Glasgow and the central belt.

Currently well managed. Part of the site is now owned by Forestry Commission Scotland who are proposing to create native woodlands on Cochno Hill.

Very good habitat for moorland breeding and over-wintering birds because south-facing, fairly low altitude, not far from coast, and well connected to wider mountains.

These moorland habitats are composed of common and widespread plant species.
