Bellsmyre Grasslands

Grasslands: West Dunbartonshire

Bellsmyre Grasslands | Grasslands

District: Dumbarton | Postcode: G82 2RZ | Walk Type: Wee Adventure

A 13Ha Grassland located in the Bellsmyre area.

The site presents excellent habitat for birds and invertebrates.

The open hawthorn scrub and neutral grass is one of the largest habitats of it type in West Dunbartonshire.

Of particular interest is the semi-improved neutral grassland which has not been ploughed or had inorganic fertilizers applied and is restorable.

The Bellsmyre Grasslands LNCS has the potential to offer a very diverse and valuable habitat. Restoration as neutral grassland through scrub clearance and management would bring significant biodiversity benefits.
