Beardmore Way to River Clyde
On the old railway track, there are many trees and bushes such as silver birch, hazel and blackthorn. Wildflowers are in abundance here during spring and summer.
There are numerous amounts of wildlife in this area such as deer, moles, hedgehog, foxes, grey herons, rats/mice and ducks and various seabirds.
The Beardmore Shipyard was situated in Dalmuir immediately West of the John Brown Yard and was founded in 1906. It produced many famous merchant and warships.
From this point, if you look up the river Clyde towards Glasgow city centre, the Titan Crane dominates the skyline. It was the world's first electrically powered cantilever crane, and the largest crane of its type at the time of its completion. Today it stands proudly at the site of the old John Brown shipyard as a monument to the shipbuilding industry which made the area world famous.
